Apple has sponsored a stunning 300-foot animation featuring Wallace & Gromit, projected daily onto the walls and chimneys of Battersea Power Station, which serves as the company’s UK headquarters.
A remarkable set of eight iPhone 16 Pro Max units created the 6,000-frame stop-motion animation, showcased every night leading up to New Year’s Eve.
Apple referred to this endeavor as a cheerful initiative.
This holiday season, Wallace & Gromit have brought festive decorations to London’s Battersea Power Station. From 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily until New Year’s Eve, two Christmas trees will illuminate the wash towers on the structure’s river-side facade. Spectators will witness the beloved characters adorning the massive trees in their unique styles, all while navigating the antics of the mischievous Feathers McGraw […]
“Wallace & Gromit are an iconic duo, and we’re thrilled they will be brightening Battersea Power Station for Londoners this festive season,” stated Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “We are excited to showcase the artistry and creativity of Aardman, demonstrating how they leveraged the most advanced iPhone we have ever produced to create something so delightful.”
Each frame was captured using ProRAW technology and later compiled into a 6K video.
Aardman, the acclaimed animation studio behind Wallace & Gromit, utilized the iPhone 16 Pro Max to craft a short animation that transforms the iconic chimneys towering at 101 meters above the River Thames. The iPhone 16 Pro Max was secured on motorized heads on-site to capture two perspectives of the Christmas trees, resulting in a total of 6,000 frames. Eight devices employed the 5x Telephoto camera to take ultra-high-resolution ProRAW images, which were meticulously stitched together frame by frame to produce a breathtaking 6K video.
Apple relocated its UK headquarters to this historic building last year, coinciding with the launch of a new Apple Store in the same venue. This move has been in preparation since at least 2016.
