Canon EOS R50 Is The Most Affordable RF Camera Till Date

With the Canon EOS R50, the company has added a more affordable entry point into the ecosystem of RF mirrorless cameras. The company unveiled this new camera, along with the EOS R8, which is full-frame, the APS-C RF mount camera will start at a price of $680 when the company will put it on sale in the latter part of 2023. Considering the spec sheet and the price, the R50 could be one for beginners.

For those wondering, the camera has a 24.2-megapixel season that is fully capable of capturing video footage at 4K up to 30 frames per second. The mounted camera will also be able to shoot video at 1080p at up to 60 frames per second. The S&Q-style slo-mo footage can be shot at 120 frames per second. The company has claimed that this camera is fully equipped to shoot for an hour of continuous footage.

The Canon EOS R50 Is Perfect For Beginners

Also, despite the modest pricing of the Canon EOS R50, the camera also includes Dual Pixel autofocus technology, which can innately detect people, vehicles, and animals. For those wondering, these would be available for both video and stills. One wouldn’t be getting any log modes, but the camera comes with HDR PQ which would also give one a 10-bit video, which is quite good for a budget camera. The other video features that would really make this camera perfect for beginners are the micro HDMI port, headphone, and microphone ports, as well as UVC compatibility for direct streaming through webcam.

The Canon EOS R50 also boasts of great burst shooting speeds at this price- for electronic first-curtain shitter mode, the metric is 12 fps, while for electronic shutter mode, it goes all the way to 15 fps. But, one needs to remember that the camera will only capture 13 C-RAW + JPEG Files in a burst due to the slow UHS-I SD card support.
