Google announced Bard AI, a competitor to ChatGPT, last month. After the Bard announcement, Google employees made fun of the firm and CEO Sundar Pichai, calling it a hasty, “botched,” and “un-Googley” statement.
According to audio acquired by CNBC, an all-hands meeting was conducted on Thursday during which firm leaders responded to inquiries from Dory, the company’s internal forum, regarding problems with Bard.
Jack Krawczyk, the product lead for Bard, stated during the conference that the AI tool is not simply for search. The question, “Bard and ChatGPT are huge language models, not knowledge models,” was put to the executives at the meeting. They excel at producing language that seems human, but they struggle to make sure it is factually accurate.

He added that Bard AI users cannot be prevented from attempting to utilize it as a search engine. He said that Google is still accommodating users who wish to utilize it for search purposes and that the business has created a brand-new feature for internal use called “Search It.”
The move to decouple Bard AI from search looked to represent a change in direction in the initial goal, according to what employees told CNBC and internal memes that have been going around lately. Nonetheless, Google representatives repeatedly emphasized at the Bard announcement that the technology they were internally developing will be integrated with search.
