Pokemon Tournament 2023 Cancelled

The four finalists staged a protest and disclosed that the teams would be made up of Pokemon that only learned the Metronome move, which led to the cancellation of an official Scarlet & Violet tournament in South Korea. The Metronome move, as described by Games Radar, is an odd and unpredictable power that generates a random move from practically every one of the series’ existing abilities. However, Korea was not pleased and abruptly ended the event after realizing it was a protest.

Pokemon Tournament Did Not Have Enough Players

One of the players who was disqualified, Nash, gave followers an explanation of their protest on Twitter. He said that it was partly motivated by the players’ anger with the competition’s qualification procedure. Nash encapsulated the situation by saying, “Pokemon Korea saw our teams, didn’t like it, and therefore disqualified all four of us for playing Metronome.” Nash said that the competitors were not given enough leisure in between games.

“During the tour, people kept getting rematch after rematch and couldn’t stop playing.” In the end, Nash claims that what prompted the choice to protest and is what he refers to as the “real problem” is the “absolute disrespect” displayed to players. The participant claims that the finalists received an email on June 3, the day after they locked in their Metronome-only teams on the system, notifying them that they had been eliminated for selecting Pokemon with a particular move that, according to Korea, “falls into prohibited acts.”

The four of us were disqualified for playing Metronome because Pokémon Korea observed our teams, didn’t like it, and so on, said Nash. There seems to have been an outpouring of sympathy for the athletes. One Twitter user responded, “I understand your frustration, and appreciate your decision to stand up.” Another person remarked, “I hope your brave actions will change things at TPC.”
