Only a few weeks remain till the start of QuakeCon 2023 on August 10. As Gematsu noted, the remastered version of the original Quake was given a rating by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea in 2021 before it was formally announced at QuakeCon 2021.
It appears likely that Quake 2 Remastered will be available on PC and all the consoles because Quake Remastered was launched for PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Quake 2 Remastered will undoubtedly be released right into Xbox Game Pass, much like Quake Remastered was because Bethesda is controlled by Microsoft.
Quake 2 Remastered Ratings Are Out
Following the discovery of a rating for the unreleased shooter online, Quake 2 Remastered looks to be in development.
The Quake 2 Remastered listing was discovered by Gematsu on the dependable leaker Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea. The listing is still active as of the time of posting and verifies a PC release. IGN has contacted Bethesda for a response.
The entry defines Quake 2 Remastered as “An FPS game that conducts war against the hostile alien race, Strogg, who plans to invade the earth.” Blood and physical injuries are commonly seen when fighting with weapons, and there is “excessive expression of violence” in it.
Quake 2 made its debut in 1997. The first-person shooter from Id Software carried on the Quake plot that had been started by its predecessor and would go on to inspire two sequels and several spin-offs. In the guise of Quake 2 RTX, Quake 2 already has a sort of pseudo-remaster, but that game is more of a technical demonstration of the lighting prowess of Nvidia’s ray tracing-capable devices. A more formal remaster may still accomplish a lot.
