Wireless earbuds can frequently become painful when shoved into your ears for extended periods of time while being far more portable than a pair of over-ear headphones. The open-ear design of Shokz’s new OpenFit wireless earbuds ensures that you can hear anything going on near you, even with your music turned up, while also providing all-day comfort. They are the first wireless earbuds made by the firm.
Starting today, Amazon or the company’s own website is selling the Shokz OpenFit for $180 in either a beige or black finish. Wireless earbud manufacturers have been enhancing these headphones’ ambient sound-enhancing capabilities so users do not need to take them out while at work, making it simpler to switch between conversations taking place online and those taking place in real life. However, speaking with someone face-to-face while their voice is amplified artificially through headphones isn’t exactly a natural encounter.
Shokz OpenFit Is An Interesting Device
With its LinkBuds earphones, which included a hole in the center of the donut-shaped driver that allowed ambient noises, such as in-person conversations, to pass through while the earbuds were in use and utilized, Sony attempted to address this problem a year ago. Shokz has been providing ambient noise capabilities with its bone-conduction-based wireless wraparound headphones for many years. It was anticipated that the return to work after the pandemic would put an end to days filled with video conversations with coworkers, but this has not happened.
Bone conduction uses transducers placed on the user’s temples to vibrate their cheekbones in place of sending sound waves via the ear canal to the eardrum. The ears of the wearer are exposed.
All of Shokz’s OpenFit wireless headphones employ a flexible band that wraps around the back of the head since the bone conduction method necessitates that those transducers be placed on the temples. Bone conduction technology hasn’t yet been included in wireless earbuds that independently attach to each ear because of a design issue, but the business has found another approach.
