Snapchat Introduces Family Locator Feature Similar to Find My Friends

Snapchat is launching a new feature that functions similarly to Apple’s Find My app, but it will be restricted to family members.

Parents will be able to request their teens’ locations and vice versa, with some automated location updates also included…

The Verge states that this feature will debut alongside additional location tools in the upcoming weeks.

After the update, a new option in the Family Center will enable parents to request their teen’s location and vice versa. Additionally, this hub will provide parents access to their child’s location-sharing preferences alongside current privacy settings to help ensure safe and responsible app usage.

Moreover, Snap will permit family members to send automatic travel alerts, notifying them when someone has arrived at or left three predetermined locations, such as home or school.

This initiative seems to be a public relations effort aimed at improving the company’s reputation following numerous allegations of intentionally trying to make teens addicted to the app.
