This weekend, Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter revealed that Apple is once again ‘considering’ the possibility of introducing an Apple-branded television.
According to Gurman, this would follow the launch of their new smart display products, suggesting that it may be a few years away. Next year, Apple is expected to launch a more affordable smart display, often referred to as the “HomePad” by many.
Subsequently, a more premium product with a larger screen and a robotic arm is anticipated.
However, Gurman points out that “if the first device falters,” in reference to the smart displays, Apple “might need to reassess its smart home aspirations” – implying that there’s a significant chance this Apple-branded TV concept could remain unrealized.
Personally, I find it hard to believe this will come to pass. Apple TV boxes have already made a solid impact in the market, yet there’s a possibility that Apple could venture into the high-end television sector, despite its niche appeal.
Conversely, Apple might be eager to promote the vision of customers using the Apple Vision Pro as their home theater solution, which contradicts the introduction of an actual TV.
Only time will tell.
