Mobile gaming on the iPhone is becoming increasingly powerful and prominent. Today, Square Enix announced the upcoming mobile adaptation of its legendary game, Final Fantasy XIV.

According to Square Enix, Lightspeed Studios is behind the development of this mobile version of Final Fantasy XIV. While it won’t be a direct replica of the original, the goal is to create a commendable mobile experience.

LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS is dedicated to ensuring FINAL FANTASY XIV MOBILE authentically captures the award-winning gameplay and narrative of the original title. The mobile game will feature lifestyle elements like fishing, Triple Triad, and chocobo racing. Furthermore, players can dive into the richly designed visuals that characterize Eorzea on mobile. Every aspect, from the detailed weather and time-of-day systems that incorporate over 600 unique weather variations across diverse landscapes, to character and equipment designs, has been meticulously refined to bring the essence of the original game to mobile devices.
Final Fantasy XIV will soon be available for pre-release play tests in China, with a full global launch expected shortly thereafter.
Details regarding the specific devices compatible with the game are still uncertain. It’s likely that a relatively recent iPhone model will be required, but clarification on this has not yet been provided.
Recently, Apple announced the addition of two new Final Fantasy titles to Apple Arcade, however, neither of these games holds the same level of notoriety as Final Fantasy XIV.
