Apple Music has revealed that Billie Eilish is its 2024 Artist of the Year, making her the first artist to achieve this honor twice. Here are the details.
Eilish also clinched the inaugural Artist of the Year award in 2019
According to Apple’s announcement:
Today, Billie Eilish has been named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year, acknowledging her remarkable influence throughout 2024.
With her historic second Academy Award win and two GRAMMY Awards for her work on Greta Gerwig’s feature film Barbie with the track “What Was I Made For?”, she released her third full album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT. This deeply personal yet daring album signifies a bold progression in her artistry—undoubtedly her finest work to date. Upon release, it achieved the No. 1 spot on Apple Music’s all-genre albums chart in 138 countries around the globe.
This announcement signifies that Eilish not only secured her second Academy Award this year but also her second Apple Music Artist of the Year title, having initially won in 2019 when the Apple Music Awards were first established.
Eilish has collaborated closely with Apple Music since the beginning of her career, which is illustrated in her quote upon receiving this honor:
“Apple Music has been there for my music and creative journey from day one, and I’m truly honored and humbled to be recognized as Artist of the Year so many years into my career,” Billie expressed to Apple Music.
In addition to selecting Eilish as Artist of the Year, Apple has also released various ‘The Best of 2024’ playlists on Apple Music. You can check them out here.
