After an unusually lengthy period in an exclusive video-on-demand window for purchasing or renting, Apple has now confirmed the streaming release date for Fly Me to the Moon on Apple TV+: the film will become available to watch worldwide on December 6.
Starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, Fly Me to the Moon is a romantic comedy set in the 1960s, following marketing executive Kelly Jones (Johansson) as she attempts to repair NASA’s public image amidst declining confidence in the Apollo mission. Jones is given the task of orchestrating a fake moon landing should the actual mission falter. Tatum plays Cole Davis, the flight director for the Apollo 11 mission.
While the movie received mixed reviews from critics, it was generally well-received by those who attended the screenings.
With its December 6 release planned, it promises to be Apple’s significant movie launch for the Christmas holiday season.
