Threads App Now Allows Users to Watch Videos in Landscape Mode

After an update that introduced Custom Feeds for all users, the Threads app is unveiling another significant feature. Users can now enjoy landscape videos directly in the mobile app—a key functionality that was previously missing.

Landscape Video Support Now Available on Threads

This update was verified by the Threads team after several users pointed out the new capability. Before this update, even when tapping to view a video in fullscreen mode, the Threads app did not support the rotation for landscape videos. The new update permits users to enjoy both videos and images in landscape orientation.

“You found it,” the official Threads account responded to a user’s inquiry. DMN has confirmed that this feature is now operational with the latest iOS app update.

Earlier in the week, Meta started enabling all users to create Custom Feeds within Threads. Additionally, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri recently shared that the company will be adjusting its algorithms to emphasize content from followed accounts. Mosseri also indicated that Threads will soon implement a feature for users to search for posts from specific date ranges.

In more recent news, Meta announced its plans to introduce advertisements to Threads users next year, a move prompted by the platform’s considerable growth since its inception, now boasting over 200 million monthly active users.

The Threads application is available for free on the App Store and requires an iPhone with iOS 15.1 or newer. Be sure to update the app to the latest version to enjoy the new features.
