Today, Nintendo has launched a new game for iPhone called Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete. This title revisits much of what users enjoyed in its earlier version, while also introducing fresh content and a notable pricing strategy.
Now Available: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete adopts a business model that Nintendo hasn’t utilized in some time, which is quite different from the trend most App Store games have followed.
Available for a one-time upfront fee on the App Store, it is currently priced at $9.99, but this introductory rate will increase to $19.99 starting January 30.
Historically, Nintendo has received mixed feedback on previous titles offered as free downloads with in-app purchases. Therefore, it will be intriguing to observe how this new Animal Crossing approach is perceived.
Here’s what to look forward to in the app:
According to Business Wire:
This new app, available for a one-time purchase, is filled with numerous items and events that were featured in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp over its seven-year span, alongside exciting new additions. Players can exchange Leaf Tokens for in-game items, create personalized player Camper Cards via QR Code®, explore the new Whistle Pass location, and enjoy a variety of both returning and new seasonal events throughout the year, among other features.
Moreover, the app introduces the ability to import Custom Designs! Players can craft designs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch, then input the Custom Design IDs in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete to utilize their creations in the app.
If you’ve previously enjoyed the original Pocket Camp, you can transfer your save data through a linked Nintendo account, ensuring you won’t need to start over from the beginning.
DMN’s Perspective
Many App Store games are often cluttered with advertisements or designed to push in-app purchases. While Apple Arcade offers a refreshing alternative, it’s great to see a significant title from Nintendo break away from this norm.
If you’re a fan of Animal Crossing, make sure to download the app before the introductory pricing ends on January 30. At $9.99, the price might be a considerable investment for many App Store users.
