Apple has invested over £18 billion ($23 billion) in the UK over the last five years, resulting in the creation of more than 550,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, stated that the company has been serving customers in the UK for over 40 years, now operating 40 retail locations across the country.
This job count incorporates developers who generate income from iOS applications.
During this period, Apple’s engineering teams in the UK have doubled. This reflects the company’s enduring relationship with the UK, supporting 550,000 jobs through direct employment, its supply chain, and the iOS app economy.

The company also notes that its British engineers are vital to Apple’s Intelligence initiatives.
Apple’s engineering teams based in London, Cambridge, and other areas across the UK are engaged in essential work and research related to various products and services. This includes support for key technologies in Apple Intelligence, such as the deep integration of Siri with Apple products and Private Cloud Compute, which sets a precedent for privacy in AI.
Production for Apple TV+ has expanded significantly.
This aspect has tripled within the last two years, generating employment in the creative sector and offering a platform for fresh local talent to present their work to a global audience. Apple TV+ not only creates jobs for cast and crew but also engages hundreds of suppliers in various industries — from construction and manufacturing to hospitality and technical services.
