AirTag 2 Enhanced: Significant Upgrades in a Crucial Feature

As reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming AirTag 2 is set to introduce a significant enhancement to its Precision Finding feature. With the integration of a new ultrawide band chip, you can track your AirTag from distances up to three times greater than the current version.

Initially launched in 2021, the AirTag has remained unchanged since its introduction. Earlier this year, rumors about AirTag 2 began circulating, although specifics on the enhancements were somewhat vague. Recently, however, clearer information has emerged.

Mark Gurman indicates that the new AirTag will utilize the next-generation ultrawide band chip found in the iPhone 15. This advancement will enable a tripled range for Precision Finding capabilities.

The existing model, which employs the ultrawide band chip that debuted with the iPhone 11, allows Precision Finding at distances between 10 to 30 meters. With the anticipated upgrade, tracking could extend to 30 to 90 meters, representing a substantial enhancement and offering users a much better grasp of their misplaced items’ locations.

For times when the Precision Finding range is exceeded, users can still approximate their AirTag’s location on a map or activate a chime to aid in locating it.

If you’re considering purchasing the current AirTag model for the holiday season, there are some enticing deals available. An individual AirTag can be acquired for just $24, or you can purchase a four-pack for $72.99, which brings the price down to $18 per AirTag!
