Apple is set to launch its annual Swift Student Challenge once again this year, with registration commencing in less than a month and lasting for just three weeks. Here are the key details.
350 winners will be chosen, with 50 invited for a three-day Cupertino experience
The Swift Student Challenge is an annual initiative by Apple aimed at inspiring and applauding the innovation and talent of student developers.
As stated on Apple’s website:
Apple takes pride in supporting and elevating the upcoming generation of developers, creators, and entrepreneurs through the Swift Student Challenge. This Challenge has provided thousands of student developers the chance to showcase their creativity and programming skills via app playgrounds while gaining practical skills applicable in their future careers.
This year, Apple will select a total of 350 winners whose entries showcase “exceptional innovation, creativity, social impact, or inclusivity.”
From those, a select group of 50 will be honored as ‘Distinguished Winners’ and invited to spend three days in Cupertino (likely coinciding with WWDC 2025).
The 2025 Swift Student Challenge will start accepting applications on Monday, February 3, and will close three weeks later.
To help prepare for the Challenge, Apple is encouraging students and educators to attend an upcoming online session where they will receive more information regarding the requirements, along with tips and inspiration from a previous Challenge winner and more.
Last year, Distinguished Winners had the opportunity to meet Apple CEO Tim Cook at Apple Park prior to the kickoff of WWDC. If you’re looking for extra inspiration, a photo opportunity with the CEO could be on the horizon.
