Apple One was introduced over five years ago, and although it recently acquired new features, it hasn’t yet integrated a completely new service. However, this may soon change later this year.
Upcoming AI Health Coaching Service from Apple
For several years, Mark Gurman has been reporting on a new paid service that Apple is developing.
He describes it as a ‘wellness and coaching’ service. Recently, Gurman referred to it as ‘an AI-powered coaching service’ aimed at enhancing Apple’s expansive health goals.
According to Gurman’s earlier reports, this new service will:
- function as its own app
- require a monthly subscription
- “motivate users to stay active, improve their dietary habits, and enhance sleep quality”
He explains further:
The concept involves using AI alongside data from an Apple Watch to generate tailored suggestions and coaching plans for individual users.
Moreover, Gurman notes:
Initial ideas for the virtual health and fitness coach involve creating personalized eating, sleeping, and exercise recommendations based on data harvested from Apple devices…There are also concepts to utilize device cameras to monitor and refine users’ exercise form, similar to features available on Peloton Interactive Inc.’s connected workout devices.
Essentially, while Apple Fitness+ focuses on delivering workout content, this new AI-based service intends to adopt a more comprehensive strategy. It will analyze user health data and provide intelligent lifestyle recommendations for healthier living.
Whether it’s called Apple Coach, Apple Wellness, or something similar, it is intriguing to note that although “Apple Health+” might be a fitting name, Gurman indicates it will operate as a standalone app, suggesting a different direction.
Expanding the Apple One Service Portfolio
While Gurman doesn’t clarify if this new service will be included in Apple One, it seems highly likely that it will be—similar to all other paid Apple offerings.
Currently, Apple One Premier incorporates six services:
- iCloud+
- Apple TV+
- Apple Music
- Apple Arcade
- Apple Fitness+
- Apple News+
The primary attraction of the Premier tier, as opposed to Apple’s less expensive options, is currently limited to a few exclusive benefits:
- Inclusion of Fitness+ and News+ in Premier
- 2TB storage in iCloud+, compared to 50GB (Individual) or 200GB (Family)
Incorporating a service like ‘Apple Coach’ could entice more users to choose the higher Apple One tier.
This could also drive additional signups for Apple One overall, as the bundle would not only provide fantastic entertainment options but also essential health-supporting features.
Indications Suggest a 2025 Launch
Gurman’s most recent mention of the AI coaching service appeared in his analysis of Apple’s plans for 2025.
The exact timing of the service’s introduction remains unclear, but there are numerous indications that 2025 may be the correct timeframe.
Apple has just rolled out its first AI capabilities in iOS 18 and is preparing for another significant release of AI features in iOS 19.
Additionally, the company is reportedly ‘reworking the Health app’ and plans to release several products this fall equipped with new health functionalities:
All these new health features and the expanded data collection capabilities of its devices should align perfectly with a potential launch of Apple Coach in the fall—both as an independent paid service and as part of the Apple One package.
Wrap-up on Apple One’s New Service
Apple’s services segment has consistently expanded each year, despite minimal alterations to Apple One’s offerings. I am keen to see not just what Apple has planned for the ‘Apple Coach’ service but also what other additions may be in store for the Apple One bundle in the future.
