Following the announcement on Thursday, the Gemini 2.0 Flash has begun to roll out within the Gemini application for both Android and iOS devices.
Last week, the Gemini 2.0 Flash phased out its experimental designation after entering testing in December. Google’s new model, crafted for the “agentic era,” surpasses the previous 1.5 Pro (launched last May) in areas such as coding, accuracy, mathematics, reasoning, and various benchmarks, delivering results at twice the speed. These improvements yield quicker responses and enhanced performance, making it beneficial for daily activities such as brainstorming, studying, or writing.
Furthermore, Google is introducing an updated version of Imagen 3 within the Gemini app, promising enhanced image generation capabilities with more intricate details, textures, and improved adherence to instructions.
After being launched on gemini.google.com for both free and paid users, 2.0 Flash is now being made available on mobile platforms. As you select the model at the top of your interface, you’ll find the description from Google reads “For everyday tasks.”
The previous versions, Gemini 1.5 Flash (formerly “Get everyday help”) and 1.5 Pro (“Tackle complex tasks”), will continue to be accessible (“Previous model”) for a few more weeks, allowing users to finish their ongoing projects.
Customers with Gemini Advanced will gain access to 2.0 Flash along with additional features, such as a massive 1 million token context window (equivalent to up to 1,500 pages), Gems (creation), and Deep Research (still utilizing 1.5 Pro). The ‘plus’ menu enables them to upload files and access Google Drive.
The iOS application received an update today, while the Gemini 2.0 Flash is starting to appear in the beta version (16.4) of the Google app on Android. If you haven’t noticed it yet, try force stopping the app, as it continues to roll out this afternoon.
