The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were remarkable devices back in 2016 and 2017, yet some users encountered a problem known as “Loop Disease.” This led to a class-action lawsuit that was filed years ago and ultimately approved in the previous year. Now, a year later, former iPhone 7 users are beginning to receive their settlement compensation.
The compensation amounts seem to be approximately $200 for each claim made. This is a decent reward for previous iPhone 7 users in 2025. However, these payments stem from a $35 million settlement that primarily benefits the lawyers who initiated the class-action suit.
The cutoff date for joining the class-action suit was last summer.
Apple, for its part, denied any wrongdoing and refuted the allegations, while agreeing to the settlement.
Loop Disease is said to have resulted from pressure being applied to a specific area of the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. Symptoms included reduced audio quality, affecting even FaceTime calls.
The actual amounts received by participants depend on whether they paid for a repair associated with this issue. Customers who experienced the problem but did not pay for repairs are anticipated to receive lower amounts. Initially, the maximum payout was reported to be $350.
Last autumn, MacBook users dealing with butterfly keyboard issues also started receiving compensation as part of a separate settlement.
