Virgin Atlantic Now Offers Support for AirTag’s Latest Lost Luggage Tracking Feature

Dealing with lost luggage can be incredibly frustrating, but AirTags significantly simplify the search for your belongings. With the recent Find My feature rolled out in iOS 18.2, users are now able to share their luggage’s location directly with airlines. Virgin Atlantic has now announced that it supports this new AirTag functionality. Here’s what you need to know.

Another airline supports AirTag sharing

Apple’s updates in iOS 18.2 have enhanced the Find My app, enabling users to temporarily share a lost AirTag’s location with other parties, including airlines.

Apple collaborated with various airlines to integrate this feature into their customer service systems. However, the implementation of airline support has been incremental. We’ve been monitoring which airlines have adopted this feature, and we’ve just added another one.

Virgin Atlantic now allows customers to share their AirTag’s location with its customer service for quicker recovery of lost luggage.

The sharing process is detailed on their support page, which includes the following steps:

  1. Open the ‘Find My’ app on your iPhone
  2. Select ‘Items’
  3. Tap the name of the AirTag you wish to share
  4. Press ‘Share Item Location’ and follow the instructions on the screen
  5. Copy the generated location link
  6. Visit the WorldTracer Customer Portal and select ‘Manage an Existing Report’
  7. Input your surname and the 10-digit reference number from your missing luggage report
  8. Choose ‘Find My Item Location’ and paste your URL into the provided text box
  9. Click ‘Add a Find My Location link’
  10. Paste the location link from the Find My app and press ‘Add’

While many steps in this process are similar across various airlines, each has its own specific method for sharing a lost AirTag location.

In the U.S., we are still awaiting AirTag support from several major carriers such as American Airlines, Southwest, JetBlue, and Spirit. Currently, both Delta and United have implemented support.
