Since the release of iOS 18.3 to the public in late January, anticipation has been building for the unveiling of the initial beta of iOS 18.4, which is anticipated to include significant updates to Siri as well as enhanced Apple Intelligence capabilities. According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this update is expected to be available for developers in the near future.
iOS 18.4 is on the horizon
Specifically, Gurman indicates that the first beta version of iOS 18.4 will be rolled out to developers sometime between the “middle of next week and early the following week.” For context, last year, the beta 1 of iOS 17.4 was released on January 25, while iOS 16.4’s initial beta launched on February 16.
With the arrival of iOS 18.4, Apple is set to introduce long-awaited enhancements to Siri for devices equipped with Apple Intelligence. These upgrades will feature personal context understanding, on-screen awareness, and app control capabilities. Additionally, the update is expected to implement Priority Notifications, utilizing AI to automatically highlight certain notifications.
Furthermore, Apple has announced plans to broaden Apple Intelligence language support for the first time in iOS 18.4. New languages slated for inclusion consist of Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
There is also a strong possibility that iOS 18.4 will unveil new emoji options, already previewed by the Unicode Consortium. These new emojis encompass a fingerprint, a face with bags under the eyes, a harp, a root vegetable, a leafless tree, a splatter, and a shovel.
