iPhone 17 ‘Camera Bar’ Design Expected to Be Absent in One Model

In recent days, a slew of new renders depicting the forthcoming iPhone 17 series have emerged. A consistent design element across these visuals is the distinctive ‘camera bar’ appearance. However, one model is believed to forgo this innovative design.

Base iPhone 17 anticipated to maintain current camera design

Today, we highlighted a video featuring Jon Prosser that offers an insightful preview of what to expect from Apple’s ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air model.

Additionally, Prosser revealed an interesting detail regarding the base model of the iPhone 17.

In a post on X, he notes:

While it wasn’t addressed in the video, I want to mention that the standard base iPhone 17 will retain the same design as the base iPhone 16. Use this information as you wish..

Speculation suggests that all iPhone 17 variants will undergo some design updates. Yet, it appears that the base iPhone 17 will miss out on one of the most significant aesthetic changes: the new camera bar.

In addition to the iPhone 17 Air, other models, such as the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, are also expected to feature the same ‘bar’ design. This coincides with reports from sources like The Information, which described the design as a “larger rectangular camera bump.”

Significant camera variations are expected between the iPhone 17 Air and the iPhone 17 Pro models. Specifically, the Air will feature a single rear camera, in contrast to the Pro models, which will boast three cameras. Nevertheless, Apple seems set to incorporate a similar camera bar design across the board.

This ultimately means that three out of the four iPhone 17 models will showcase the new ‘bar’ design instead of the traditional ‘bump’ for their camera arrangements.

In contrast, according to Prosser, the base iPhone 17 is set to keep the regular camera design that characterizes the current iPhone 16 model.
