Apple has officially opened pre-orders for its latest iPhone. You can now visit Apple’s website to secure your pre-order for the iPhone 16e, with the first shipments expected on Friday, February 28. This device will also be available in Apple retail locations on the same day.
Here’s a quick overview of the features you can expect from the iPhone 16e.
Specifications and Features of iPhone 16e
The iPhone 16e enters the lineup featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display, a notch, and Face ID for secure authentication. Instead of a mute switch, there’s now an Action button, and Apple has transitioned to USB-C for charging and data transfer instead of Lightning.
This device is powered by the A18 chip and comes with 8GB of RAM, ensuring robust support for Apple Intelligence features such as Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT integration, and more. Additional features are also set to arrive with future software updates.
A key highlight of the iPhone 16e is its C1 modem, Apple’s first-ever cellular modem, touted as “the most power-efficient modem ever in an iPhone.” With the combination of the C1 modem and the A18 chip, the iPhone 16e delivers the “best battery life ever seen in a 6.1-inch iPhone,” with up to 26 hours of video playback.
This model features a single 48MP Fusion camera with an integrated 2x Telephoto option. By default, it takes high-resolution 24MP photos, but users can switch to 48MP if desired. The integrated Telephoto capability allows for quality zooming, negating the need for a separate physical camera. Additionally, it supports HDR, Portrait mode, and Night mode to elevate your photography experience.
On its front, the iPhone 16e has a 12MP selfie camera equipped with autofocus functionality.
However, the iPhone 16e does come with a few limitations. It lacks MagSafe support, but does include standard Qi wireless charging. Additionally, it does not have an Ultra Wideband chip, which may impact compatibility with features like Precision Finding for AirTags, AirPods, and Find My, as well as potentially affecting future accessory compatibility with the Home app, digital car keys, and more.
