Apple has launched a series of beta software updates, which include iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS 15.4. Notably, the updates for iPad and Mac bring the much-anticipated redesign of the Mail app.
New Mail Features in macOS 15.4 and iPadOS 18.4 Betas
The significant changes to Apple’s built-in Mail app for iPhone were introduced with iOS 18.2 late last year.
This update featured a revamped design along with key inbox categorization functionalities, among other enhancements.
For the past few months, users on Mac and iPad have been missing out on these updates, but with the release of macOS 15.4 and iPadOS 18.4 beta 1, the redesigned Mail app is now accessible on a wider scale.
The enhanced Mail app on Mac and iPad mirrors much of the functionality found on the iPhone.

The standout feature is the new inbox categories, which organize your emails into the following sections:
- Primary
- Transactions
- Updates
- Promotions
Additionally, there’s an All Mail view that allows you to see all your messages in one place.
Similar to the iPhone, users on Mac and iPad can opt out of these new changes if they prefer the traditional functionality of the Mail app.
Visually, the redesigned Mail app emphasizes sender contact photos, akin to the layout used in Apple’s Messages app. Various other UI elements have also been refreshed for a modern appearance.
