iOS 18.4 Beta Introduces Ambient Music Feature in Control Center Through Apple Music

Apple has officially released its first beta version of iOS 18.4. This update introduces various enhancements, including new Apple Intelligence languages, a dedicated Food section for News+ subscribers, and an Apple Vision Pro app for iPhone. Among these features, iOS 18.4 now includes new Ambient Music controls accessible via Control Center, Lock Screen, and more, powered by Apple Music.

New controls trigger Apple Music playlists of your preference

Last year, Apple made significant updates to Control Center in iOS 18, enabling a range of customization and enhanced functionality.

Since then, subsequent iOS updates have consistently introduced new types of controls to select from.

In the iOS 18.4 beta, users will find four new options under the Ambient Music category:

  • Chill
  • Productivity
  • Sleep
  • Wellbeing

These controls can be integrated into the Control Center, assigned to your iPhone’s Action Button, or placed on the Lock Screen, replacing the flashlight or camera buttons.

Each control is programmed to initiate a specific playlist, but users can personalize them according to their preferences.

For instance, the Productivity control is set to play the BEATstrumentals playlist by default. However, in editing mode, users can also choose from options like Binaural Frequencies, Pure Focus, Classical Concentration, or any playlist from their collection.

These new controls offer a convenient way to start playlists that match your mood. I’m personally looking forward to utilizing them frequently in the future.
