Xiaomi is back with its latest concept phone this year. It is a quad-curved waterfall display model that is yet to be named by the company. Xiaomi has recently released its first look and it has unfailingly caught everyone’s attention.
The new concept smartphone differs from its earlier waterfall display modules in a unique way. This model will not only bear waterfall rolling edge displays on the left and right but also on the top and bottom. This leaves no space for buttons or ports. The company reported in its official release statement that this new smartphone will extend the concept of infinity design smartphones. The phone will have an 88 degrees waterfall curve on all four sides making it a true unibody design, mentions Xiaomi.
Xiaomi Holds 46 Patents On Its New Concept Phone
The technology used to build this design almost resembles Vivo’s Apex concept smartphone that was introduced in 2019. However, the only difference is that Xiaomi is taking it to the next level by bringing the curved waterfall display to all four sides.
However, many have asked this question: how is a portless design going to work? It seems that Xiaomi has left spaces in the corner for its ports by cutting out space. For smartphone users who did not like the curved edge display in Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra might not be a fan of this model either.
The smartphone company mentions in a statement that this design was possible owing to a lot of breakthroughs in laminating and glass bending technologies. The new smartphone currently holds 46 patents for its groundbreaking model, claims Xiaomi. The new smartphone’s announcement comes after the recent launch of Mi’s wireless charging system namely, Mi Air Charge.
The official launch dates for these concept models are not available till date. The more conventional Mi 11 flagship model is scheduled to launch this February 8th.
