Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 Review: Lighting Extravaganza!

This is our full review of the Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 G532LV gaming laptop. ROG Strix Scar 15 G532 is the update to last year’s G531. Our review unit comes with Intel Core i7-10875H CPU, RTX 2060 Graphics, and a 240Hz 1080p screen. So, what does the G532 bring to our table?

The lightbar that extends about the entirety of the bottom panel is really eye-catching. However, it also makes the G532 a bulky laptop. The lighting effects of the lightbar and the keyboard can be customized via the Armoury Crate. Its lid has a minimal styling effect and comes with a matte finish. And on the inside, you’ll find the slightly rubbery palm rest quite pleasing.

The ROG Strix Scar 15 has a gorgeous 15.6-inch 1080p panel. It covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut, so color reproductions are fairly accurate. Furthermore, the 240Hz refresh rate is an added bonus. However, the brightness of the panel is not that good. But aside from that, it is a perfect panel for media consumption and content creation.

The 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor handles everyday tasks quite easily. You’ll have no problem in going about your daily tasks with this one. The RTX 2060 is a powerful GPU. WE played multiple games on the max settings and the fps count were like this:

ROG Strix Scar 15 G532 Far Cry 5: 103 (Ultra Setting)
ROG Strix Scar 15 G532 Shadow of the tomb raider: 93 (Ultra Setting)
ROG Strix Scar 15 G532 Witcher 3: 67 (Ultra Setting)

Despite the fact that our ROG Strix Scar 15 G532 was the base variant, I found the device to be quite powerful. It does well, be it gaming or web surfing. Furthermore, with Turbo mode, you won’t feel the device heating up unless it is a very long gaming session. The lightbar, though extravagant, is something to flex about. I have some reservations about the dim-lit panel because it is not the brightest. Other than that, there’s really nothing much to complain about.
