IOS 14 Users Start Receiving New Pop-Up Tracking, Which Will Be Rolled Out In 2021

Apple is intending to roll out a new and important privacy feature on iOS 14 as well as iPadOS14. This will need request permission prior to tracking users on other websites and apps.

Although Apple is yet to make an official announcement regarding the date of implementation and details, they have already begun testing it on selected iOS 14 users. So they will be rolling out the feature fully in early 2021.

Strict Privacy For iOS 14 Users

This brand new privacy feature is two-fold. Firstly, consumers can access it from the Settings under the menu of ‘Privacy’. Here, you can see the apps requiring authorization to track and withdraw or give permission, accordingly.

Users will be receiving a pop-up message after they open a specific app the first time following the rollout of the privacy feature. The notification on iOS 14 will help Facebook and other companies in explaining the need to enable tracking.

Although Facebook had expressed their displeasure over this new feature, citing a negative impact on small businesses, Apple argued that it will not affect the approach of tracing users since it requires permission.

It has been reported that only a few users have been receiving tracking prompts for some apps. Apple had initially planned to launch the feature in September. After the delay, they have promised to implement it early in 2021.

Public betas and first developer of iOS 14.4 in the previous week after satisfactory response on iOS 14.3. These results give hope for an early launch of the privacy feature by January 2021.

Many users have tweeted on receiving the pop-up, indicating an early implementation by certain developers before the official release of the privacy features.
