Cricut Reverses Paid Subscription Plans

Cricut Reverses Paid Subscription Plans

Cricut has announced that unlimited uploads no longer have the requirement of a subscription. The company’s automated craft machine used to have free uploads until last year it announced a subscription plan for it. However, the decision has been completely reversed now.

Ashish Arora, the CEO, wrote in a blog post of the reversal in the decision. Currently, all members of Cricut can upload any number of patterns and images to Design Space free of charge. He added that there is no further intention to modify it. As such, he continued, that current members and future members of 2022 will not have to pay for uploads.

The Original Cricut Subscription

Cricut’s automated cutting and printing machine require an app called Design Space. Any image or pattern to be made with the machine requires to be uploaded on that app first. However, the majority of crafters prefer using other creation software first and then uploading it to Design Space for the final touch. Then their Cricut would cut the uploaded pattern out of the chosen material.

However, the company had earlier shared a controversial plan in which the company would be limiting the number of uploads per month to Design Space. Only 20 uploads were planned to be free per month. Unlimited uploading would require a paid subscription called Cricut Access.

Needless to say, the intention was not perceived well by the users. Crafters would not only have to limit their uploads but would also have to incur additional costs, or they could only use Design Space.

The company had then stated that the change would be postponed till 2022. However, with the complete reversal, users should be satisfied without having to worry about another subscription. Cricut Access was originally just meant for additional features and not necessary ones.
