Apple Watch To Reportedly Come In A Rugged Design

Apple is mulling over the release of a new rugged version of its popular Apple Watch that can survive ‘extreme environments,’ according to a recent press report.

The discussion regarding such a watch is still going on internally and no such official announcements have been made till date. However, the latest news reports mention that the tech giant is considering the release of its hardy Apple Watch by the end of this year or in 2022. If such a watch comes out into the market, it is most probable that the core functions will remain the same but the exterior will be made more durable.

A report issued by Bloomberg mentions that Apple is also planning to include a new swim-tracking device in its watches. Other than that, there is news of a rubberized exterior to make the watch more lasting in extreme conditions.

New Rugged Apple Watch To Be Durable For Extreme Sports

The company’s current Apple Watch series have their in-built exercise-tracking devices. However, what is lacking is that the other watches are not meant for sturdy usage. Plus, they are not water-resistant below 50 meters. This makes the earlier Apple watches unusable for extreme sports like water skiing and so on.

Apple notes that for this reason, other companies like Garmin and Suunto have taken over the sports market with their protected and over-specialized watches.

Bloomberg further mentioned that Apple had considered a similar project in 2015 as well. However, they had dropped the project before it went for production. Therefore, it is possible that Apple will delay or cancel this project as well. However, if it comes to the market, it will be placed alongside the traditional Apple Watch Series.
