The announcement comes after a long period of excitement and an unforeseen delay. Ricoh’s Pentax K-3 Mark III comes with a rugged body, a traditional viewfinder, and a subject recognition system that is assisted by AI. It also has a BSI sensor of 25.73 MP that has a maximum of 1.6 million ISO sensitivity.
Pentax K-3 Mark III Specifications
Ricoh states that the camera is the product of the company’s most valued five principles. As such, that explains why Ricoh made the Pentax K-3 Mark III DSLR instead of another mirrorless one.
For a DSLR, it features a traditional pentaprism viewfinder. Ricoh says the optical viewfinder has almost 100% FoV and has a magnification of 1.05x. It also claims that the camera has its latest development: a glass prism with high refraction. This is supposed to ensure a comfortable viewing experience and an FoV that is equivalent to an SLR.
The Pentax K-3 Mark III further includes an optical element that correct distortions and an optimal lens coating. The viewfinder image is thus made truest to life as well as 10% brighter from its predecessor, the Mark II.
The 25.73MP sensor is an APS-C CMOS one and has an optical design that does not require any AA filters. Ricoh claims this produces images that are of extremely high resolution. The sensor runs on the latest imaging engine from Ricoh called the PRIME V. It also comes with the ability to simulate an AA filter.
Ricoh further claims that the Pentax K-3 Mark III has high noise reduction capabilities at the maximum range of ISOs. It also comes with the company’s latest patented autofocus system called SAFOX 13.
The ruggedized body is resistant to weather and dustproof. The rear, front, bottom, and top panels built using magnesium alloy. Coupled with special dustproof seals, it has outstanding performance in temperatures as cold as -10 degrees C.
The camera will be available for purchase with a tag of $2000 on 6th April.
