The Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen has recently launched. The device has a price tag of $99.99. However, it reportedly struggles to respond to touches compared to any other device with a touchscreen. Moreover, reviews have put down the latest Nest Hub as laggy and filled with stuttering animations.
The Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen Story
The original Nest Hub, also known as the Home Hub, has regularly received updates since its release back in 2018. The updates have steadily increased the capabilities of the original device and added several features.
Originally, the Nest Hub was nothing more than an electronic photo frame that had a basic speaker and a touchscreen. Currently, it can double as a center for controlling all your home appliances while providing an overview of the day, and much more. The original processor is ill-equipped for handling so many additional capabilities.
In the Google Nest Hub 2nd gen, a sleep tracking feature has been added. There are special sensors in the display bezel of the latest device that Google claims keeps a track of the users breathing and movement at night time. The device then uses this information to evaluate the quality of sleep.
In addition to the sensors, Google has also utilized the sensors to recognize a few simple gestures. The default speakers on the Google Nest Hub 2nd gen have been upgraded as well. Reviews have been positive over the effectiveness of the sleep tracker as it is also the most non-intrusive method yet. However, for a device that promises a smart hub for the home, reviews are primarily disappointed with the general speed.
The Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen has an identical appearance to its predecessor. It has a touchscreen that measures 7 inches which sit on top of a speaker base. Apart from that, the difference in appearance would be that the device comes in light blue as well. Reviews also prefer the voice interface over the newer touch one because of the stuttered animations.
