Gram 17 From LG Packs A 17-inch Punch At A Light Weight

The new Gram 17 from LG is the larger model of the Gram line. It comes with a huge display spanning 17 inches while only weighing 3 pounds. In fact, the laptop can be carried in one hand comfortably.

The keyboard is reportedly a pleasant experience while the battery can last for a day and a half. Moreover, the laptop itself makes very little noise even while working at full capacity.

Specifications Of The Gram 17

The major selling point of the Gram 17 is its longevity and lightness. As such, the laptop reportedly performs so well in those two sectors that any other complaints are negligible.

As far as the negatives go, the layout of the keyboard takes some time to get used to. The huge trackpad as well is not always reliable at rejecting accidental palm brushes. These design points are important for all laptops, especially one that comes with so much more space.

The 2021 Gram 17 is technically just a model with updated specifications. The design of last year’s version has been maintained. However, the update brings a lot more punch.

The laptop that has a price tag of $1699 is now powered by Intel’s Core i7 11th gen processor with four cores. This ups the performance rating by quite a bit. The 16GB LPDDR4X RAM is now also quicker at 4226 MHz. As such, the Gram 17 speeds up and is quite a bit more reliable than last year’s version.

As for the performance tests, the Gram 17 has a similar level as the latest XPS 13 from Dell and the Zenbook 14 from Asus. The battery as well is much better, as it can comfortably last one and a half days’ worth of work without any charge. LG has also upped the power adapter to a 65W USB-C one which improves the charging time as well.

Among 17 inch laptops, the Gram 17 is possibly the lightest after the Macbook Air. While the design is not spectacular, the more subtle nature can be preferred by some users.
