Stationhead Prepares For More After Reaching 100K Active Users Per Month

Stationhead, the startup centering social audio, has recently reached the milestone. However, the platform claims that there is no intention to limit themselves to just music in the future.

The Progress Of Stationhead

The startup had the original aim to carry over the interactivity and personality that a live broadcast on the radio has to music streaming. Ryan Star, the CEO, has stated that the platform’s ambitions are much broader now. The aim is eventually to become the biggest platform for social audio across the world.

Stationhead claims that the platform is growing quickly and has recently reached a milestone mark in its number of users active monthly – 100000. Moreover, the number is seeing an increase of 65% per month. Currently, the number of total users stands at 500000. The platform has 6300 hosts and has so far created almost 2 million recorded and live streams so far in 2021.

Murray Levison, the COO, has pointed out the platform has seen more artists come to it due to the pandemic. All of them are searching for ways in which they can reach their audience. For instance, Cardi B had joined Bardigangradio, a fan show, last month. This resulted in her latest being streamed 132000 times on Spotify and Apple Music while the broadcast was ongoing. The app integrates both services and plays the song in your account when a DJ cues it.

However, both Levison and Star have admitted that music is not as central as it was to the vision of Stationhead. Instead, the platform is more to do with broadcasting live audio, regardless of the music. From the perspective of a product, Levison claimed that the aim is to provide the best tools for broadcasting for normal people and creators to use. However, he also admits that music will always remain a part of the core, it is the platform’s “social glue.”
