The EPOS H3 is the latest gaming headset from the audio company that caters to gaming. The wired model might not create as much excitement as the GTW 270 wireless earbuds, but it still gets quite a few things correct.
Specifications Of The EPOS H3
The company is known to use rotating dials to control the volume in its headsets. As such, the EPOS H3’s right ear cup has an easily adjustable dial on its outside. The ear cup on the left has a boom microphone. It is mutable by positioning it upwards. Otherwise, it will always be on unless muted on a device.
The EPOS H3 comes with two braided cables that are swappable. One of them is designed for PC. It splits into two parts after extending from the H3 – one part is a plug for microphones, the other is a 3.5mm dedicated audio plug. The device has a price tag of $119, and features like these can be found in much cheaper models.
However, the sound quality and the comfort that the EPOS H3 offers justifies its price. The ear cups fit just right and their motion range is very wide. The size adjustment of the headband is snappy and sticks to the head firmly. The ear cups’ noise isolation, which is passive, is satisfactory partly due to the design of having a closed back. The more important reason is the plush pads that perform above average at silencing unnecessary external noise.
The sound performance is solid be it gaming or music. The quality of the microphone is also decent given the price. However, it is not at a level where it can be a substitute for a proper microphone. As for omissions, the two most notable ones are the lack of an adapter for USB-C, and that it has no way of monitoring the microphone activity.
