The tech startup OSOM Products has offered a peek into its upcoming OSOM OV1with initial images coming in December. More details have come in from the creation of engineers who created the Essential phone.
OSOM has not created much about its product and more details are expected as the launch date nears. The OSOM OV1 is in the initial stages of development. The tentative date of launch was initially set in mid-year, but it has now been pegged for the 4th quarter.
The chipset is behind the delay in the launch. The company said that the initial paly was to use an 8 Gen 1 from Snapdragon for the OSOM OV1. This chip is in use in the OnePlus 10 Pro and the Galaxy S22.
But it appears a new chipset could be in line with the OSOM OV1. It is likely to be an advanced Snapdragon version. This is assuming that Qualcomm, the makers of Snapdragon, will follow identical product cycles as in the recent past. Qualcomm announced the launch of the 888 Plus in June 2021. It was installed in the phone in the last few months in sets that include the Xiaomi Mix 4.
Initial Details Released By The Makers Of OSOM OV1
From details released by the company, it is known that the OSOM OV1 could have a couple of rear cameras of 12 and 48 MP. There is also a 16MP camera at the front, all with image sensors from Sony.
Several new Android releases come with 3-4 rear cameras, though the OSOM OV1 will not sport sticker cameras, the company said. Such cameras mostly exist merely for purposes of advertising. The company has not released additional details of the secondary 12MP camera.
The design is a combination of stainless steel and titanium frames. It will be paired will a zirconium back panel. The glass is expected to be Gorilla Glass Victus from Corning. The size of OSOM OV1 is expected to be larger than Essential’s PH-1 as it has a bigger battery and more antennas.
The software is expected to be either Android 12L or 12. the battery is expected to be an ‘all-day’ one. It will have two physical SIM card slots and has avoided the e-SIM route.
