Apple Music, Apple TV+, the App Store, and other Apple services were unavailable in several regions of the world Friday night. The outage was first reported on Monday night, with Apple’s service uptime dashboard indicating that multiple services, including Find My, iCloud, Apple Maps, and others, were affected. Now, all Apple services appear to be operational, and Apple’s service uptime monitor displays all services in green, with those that were unavailable yesterday night labeled “Resolved Outage.”
Apple’s service problems seemed to be cascading, with various services experiencing outages at different periods.
Apple Music And Apple Store Were Fine By 5:30 PM ET
Outage tracker Downdetector also indicates an increase in outage complaints on Apple App Store, Apple TV+, Apple Maps, and Apple HomeKit, with many taking to social media to report the outage.
On Monday, March 21, the outage tracker reveals a rise in outage complaints. However, there was no sign of a HomeKit outage on Apple’s service uptime monitor. Users were encountering issues with Account and Sign In on the Apple website for iCloud, but the backup was working correctly. According to reports, iOS Device Activation went unavailable as well but was afterward listed as fixed.
Downdetector corroborated our findings, revealing almost 1000 more customers experiencing problems with the Apple Music and Apple Store. However, by 5:30 p.m. ET, the number of persons reporting issues had dropped considerably.
Apple has not stated what issue caused the service disruption to be so pervasive. The corporation informed its employees that the outage was caused by a DNS (domain name system). When a server fails to connect to an internet protocol address, this occurs, and it is frequently caused by human mistakes.
