Activision Blizzard has formally declared that the vaccination obligation for US business workers will be lifted.
A Better ABK, a group of Activision Blizzard workers founded in response to the company’s original sexual harassment lawsuit last year, stated that on Friday all employees will step out of work both digitally and physically on April 4 in protest.
Workers will congregate in front of Activision Blizzard offices around the United States as part of the walkout, with some devs participating online from their homes. According to Polygon, the online organizers of the demonstration will utilize the hashtags #SickOfThis and #GameWorkersUnite to mobilize supporters.
Activision Blizzard Removes Vaccine Mandate
According to ABK Worker Alliance’s Jessica Gonzalez on Twitter, the publisher will not need evidence of vaccination in order to return to work. Bulatao stated in the email, “Effective instantly, we are removing our vaccination obligation for all United States workers.” “This implies that in order to return to work, employees no longer need to be completely vaccinated against COVID-19.”
Although evidence of vaccination is no longer necessary to return to work, Bulatao stated in the email that employees will be requested to share their Covid-19 immunization status with the firm for its records in any scenario. Following Bulatao’s email, some Activision Blizzard employees expressed their displeasure with the decision. The A Better ABK Workers Alliance, which has organized many walkouts since last year, has called for another one. However, a spokesman of the organization told Polygon that an estimate of the number of members is not yet available.
Before making this choice, the studio management was neither notified nor contacted, according to the spokesman. Employees are in danger of infection as a result of this reversal, and the staff is enraged that the corporation is pressing for compelled returns to the office now that the limitation has been lifted, according to the spokesperson. Employees at Activision Blizzard have staged a big walkout for the fourth time. Staffers had walked out back in 2021 when the state of California filed a lawsuit against the corporation for sexual harassment and misbehavior. Roughly 350 participants took part in the event.
