The Delicious Last Course, the game’s expansion, has been anticipated by Cuphead players for five long years and is almost here.
Few video games describe themselves as “excellent,” but Cuphead is one exception. The careful replication of a 1930s Disney design by Studio MDHR exudes a sweet flavor that makes you want to flutter between its treats like an unlimited buffet. Nearly five years after the original game’s release, this fresh serving of platforming bliss still makes for a delectable dish—even if it does arrive a touch lukewarm. Just keep in mind that Cuphead is also renowned for its boss battles that pour merry hell on you. Get ready to die.
The Last Cuphead Game Was Released 5 Years Ago
At least you can start this DLC right away even from a brand-new save without finishing the main course. After completing the first mausoleum task, which becomes available after a few steps, you can liberate Ms. Chalice, the episode’s main character. A clock-faced boatman will then ferry you to the newly discovered fourth island, where your mission is to transform the ghostly Chalice back into its physical state.
According to cheery neighborhood chef Saltbaker, all you need to do that is, well, a Wondertart. If you can gather the five unique components, he will be happy to make them. But as luck would have it, these specific goods are guarded by hulking bosses, who you will need to get rid of first. MDHR adds a little additional spice to the mixture, though, before you start attempting to shatter these hard nuts.
You may play these new levels as Chalice rather than just Cuphead or Mugman, as well as the older ones. Chalice will ‘steal’ the body of your bowl-brained hero if you equip a magic biscuit in their charm slot. Unfortunately, this prevents you from using one of the game’s beneficial items—not the least of which is the invincible dash—but Chalice’s unique collection of abilities more than makes up for it.
