World of Warcraft Will Now Allow Players To Choose Pronouns, And Body Type

Dataminers fiddling around with the Dragonflight alpha build, the next expansion for World of Warcraft, have discovered some clues suggesting the option to select your character’s pronouns may be included in the game. Character body types appear to be losing their gendered language as well. According to Wowhead, she/her, he/him, and they/them possibilities appear in strings data-mined from earlier versions of Dragonflight, despite being deleted in the most recent alpha build. The body type selections that were previously marked as male and female have been changed to read Body 1 and Body 2.

World of Warcraft: Dragon Fight Will Release In November

However, there does not seem to be anyplace in the character customization options for this decision to be made right now. This renaming affects the text in the expansion’s character creation and grooming sections.

With its rather Evokers, Dragonflight is presenting the first race and class combination in the game. Players first learned in April that Blizzard is also overhauling World of Warcraft’s systems as part of the expansion. The focus of the redesign is on WOW’s skill and advancement systems, which, according to Blizz, will provide choices that matter at every level. A new progression specialty system and supporting tools will also be available. Activision Blizzard, the parent company of Blizzard, is battling legal troubles and claims of a hostile work climate.

The firm will be acquired by Microsoft for $69 billion (£57 billion) in January, and Blizzard Entertainment CEO Mike Ybarra has stated that he is dedicated to promoting change. Despite requests for his resignation from staff, Activision Blizzard’s shareholders just decided to re-elect CEO Bobby Kotick to the management board for another year. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is expected to be released in November. It will cost £40/$50/€50 to play and enjoy it on Battle.net.
