The two companies revealed on Friday that Control 2 (previously called Codename Heron) will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S and be based on Remedy’s Northlight engine.
The game will be released by Remedy for the PC platform and by 505 Games for the console platforms. Currently, the project is only a notion.
In June 2021, Remedy initially disclosed its intentions to create a “bigger-budget Control game.” In a statement on Friday, CEO Tero Virtala stated, “I am now happy to disclose that the larger Control game, previously known as Codename Heron, is Control 2 a complete sequel to the award-winning game Control.”
Control 2 Will Be Released Soon
In a statement, Control franchise game director Mikael Kasurinen said: “With Control, we ventured into the unknown. We were looking to innovate. Something unique and unanticipated. We appreciate your support in making Control a hit for us, the audience. We’ll venture further into the unknown with Control 2. The trip will be unexpected. Although it will take some time, I can safely say that this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. Although it’s still early, the wait will be worthwhile.
The co-CEOs of Digital Bros Group/505 Games, Rami and Raffi Galante continued, “We are eager to expand our partnership with Remedy and jointly continue the success narrative of Control. Over three million copies of Control have been sold since its 2019 release.
“Control holds a particular place in our hearts since it is the largest investment 505 Games has ever made. We are incredibly appreciative to the whole player base for helping to make Control such a beloved and enduring game, and we could not be more thrilled to release Control 2.
