Apple TV+ has revealed an upcoming series titled Lucky, featuring notable talents such as Anya Taylor-Joy.
Lucky originates from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine studio
Lucky is set to be a limited television series adapted from a New York Times bestselling book of the same title, which was selected for Reese’s Book Club.
Anya Taylor-Joy will headline the series, marking her first leading television role since her acclaimed performance in The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix in 2020. Since then, she has primarily appeared in films such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Dune: Part Two, and The Menu, along with a guest stint in Peaky Blinders.
Here’s the premise of the new TV+ show:
In “Lucky,” Taylor-Joy plays a young woman who abandoned a life of crime in her past, but is forced to confront her darker, criminal instincts once more in a desperate bid to flee from her history.
As expected, since Lucky was a Reese’s Book Club selection, the production is being handled by Hello Sunshine, a frequent partner of Apple. Their past collaborations include The Morning Show, The Last Thing He Told Me, and Surface.
Anya Taylor-Joy is also anticipated to appear in her inaugural Apple TV+ movie, The Gorge, where she stars alongside Miles Teller.
Recently, Apple TV+ has enjoyed an impressive few months, and Lucky appears to align well with the platform’s current programming. While no release date is available yet, there are hopes it will debut in 2025.
