Apple has begun sending emails to users regarding updates to the terms and conditions for Apple Pay and Wallet, which have been in effect since September—nearly three months ago. Here’s what you need to know.
Apple Pay term notifications arrive months after the actual changes
Below is a passage from the email that users are receiving concerning the updated Apple Pay & Wallet terms:
We’ve updated the Apple Pay & Wallet Terms & Conditions. Here’s a summary of the primary changes:
- We have streamlined our Terms and Conditions for Apple Pay and Wallet, ensuring your review and acceptance of these Terms is effective across all your Apple devices.
- For our customers in the US, Apple Pay is offered by Apple Payments Services LLC, a subsidiary of Apple Inc.
- Our Terms and Conditions now incorporate standard assignment provisions.
The complete updated terms and conditions can be found here for your review, and a privacy notice is attached to the email.
This privacy notice is dated September 2024. If you check Apple’s website for the revised terms, you will observe that they were last updated on September 16, 2024.
While none of the term changes appear particularly significant, it is unusual that the revised terms were implemented nearly three months ago and Apple is only now notifying users.
