Federico Viticci from MacStories has introduced an updated version of his Apple Frames shortcut. As mentioned last week, Federico faced some technical hurdles while working to get this ready.
Apple Frames allows users to display their screenshots within the physical frames of Apple devices. The new iteration of Apple Frames includes support for the latest Apple devices:
- 11” and 13” M4 iPad Pro
- iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models
- 42mm and 46mm Apple Watch Series 10
You can find the shortcut available for download on the MacStories website. Federico’s article also provides a detailed insight into the technical aspects of updating Apple Frames for iOS 18.
Here are the specifics of the issue: sometimes – without any discernible pattern – iOS and iPadOS 18 capture screenshots in 16-bit Display P3, accommodating a wider color range and enhanced dynamic range. Conversely, screenshots may still be taken in the earlier format, 8-bit sRGB. Differentiating between these types of screenshots is impossible since the Photos app categorizes them together as PNG files in the same Screenshots collection.
I am excited and grateful that Federico has successfully adapted Apple Frames to work with Apple’s latest devices. It plays a vital role in my workflow.
