Apple Intelligence Receives Full Support in the EU with iOS 18.4

iOS 18.4 offers a range of significant and minor updates for iPhone users, but for those in the EU, there’s particularly noteworthy news in the first beta: Apple Intelligence is now fully accessible for EU users.

The introduction of Apple Intelligence to EU users in iOS 18.4 beta

Shortly after unveiling its initial Apple Intelligence feature set at WWDC last June, Apple delivered disappointing news: the AI features would not be available in the EU at launch or until further notice.

The cause? Certain regulatory challenges within the EU.

This restriction was specific to the iPhone and iPad, as the Mac was not subject to the same regulations outlined in the EU’s Digital Markets Act.

However, after a prolonged wait, Apple has finally shared exciting news for iPhone users. As Apple Intelligence prepared for its public release, the company confirmed that EU users would also receive the feature—but in April through a software update.

This update is expected to be iOS 18.4.

With the arrival of the first iOS 18.4 beta, beta users in the EU can now test Apple Intelligence ahead of the broader launch in April. This timing coincides well with Apple’s enhanced language support in iOS 18.4.

Previously, EU users could not access Apple Intelligence on their iPhones and iPads, regardless of device region or language settings, as Apple restricted access based on location.

Fortunately, this is no longer the scenario. Currently, for beta users, access to AI is only restricted in China—and hopefully, that will change soon as well.

For those not participating in the beta, iOS 18.4 is set to launch publicly in early April, bringing Apple Intelligence support at that time.
