Apple is Set to Refresh the M5 MacBook Pro Later This Year, with a Major Overhaul Planned for 2026

Apple is said to be developing a refreshed version of the M5 MacBook Pro, expected to launch ‘later this year.’ Although this will primarily be a minor chip update, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicates that a more substantial MacBook Pro redesign is anticipated in 2026.

Gurman describes the new M5 MacBook Pro refresh as “a certainty,” likely occurring “around the same time of year when it launched with the M4 processor in 2024 and the M3 in 2023.”

For those keeping track, that points to October. Moreover, Apple is also preparing to refresh the M5 MacBook Air, continuing its tradition.

While these upcoming refreshes won’t feature new designs, Gurman reiterates that a full ‘overhaul’ for the MacBook Pro is set for 2026. This future refresh will introduce an M6 chip, an OLED display, and a sleeker design, based on earlier reports:

I don’t expect any major design changes for the MacBook Pro until around 2026 — when the M6 model is expected to arrive.

If you can’t wait for the M5 MacBook Pro to arrive in another six months, there are excellent deals available on current MacBook Pro models. The M4 14-inch model starts at just $1399, and the M4 Pro 14-inch model begins at $1779. Both options are significantly discounted by over $200 compared to regular pricing.
