Apple Removes Gambling Ads From Kid Games

Apple increased the number of advertisements on the App Store earlier this week but has since suspended them in response to several complaints made online.

Apple’s new ad slots prominently featured advertisements for gambling apps, with some users reporting seeing them up to 30% of the time.

These advertisements might be seen on pages for gambling addiction rehabilitation applications as well as apps geared toward children. Many of the ad spaces were bought by gambling applications, which prompted an outcry from iPhone users and developers on online forums. We have suspended advertisements for gambling and a few other categories on App Store product pages, according to an Apple spokeswoman.

Apple has not made clear what steps it will take next. The company’s statement is very unclear because it makes no mention of how long this halt will last. No longer will users who browse the App Store see advertisements for gambling. Different apps that aren’t difficult or contentious will occupy the newly added advertising spots. This puts some delicate users who are fighting gambling addiction in a difficult situation, or at least that’s the main point of agreement among internet users.

Apple responded by announcing that it was halting the promotion of such apps. Apple’s choice, meanwhile, does not seem to be very long-lasting. It has not said how long this break would remain or whether gambling advertisements will eventually be permitted under revised guidelines. According to GSMArena, Stage Manager, a revised multitasking interface, is a part of the upcoming iPad OS.

Stage Manager will be completely compatible with external monitors with resolutions as high as 6K later this year after an upgrade for the M1 and M2 iPads.
