As reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is in the process of readying an updated version of both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air powered by the M4 chip, with a launch anticipated in March.
For quite some time now, speculation surrounding the M4 MacBook Air has circulated. Initial indications appeared in the macOS 15.2 beta in December, hinting that a release was imminent. Gurman even noted that the MacBook Air was expected to make its debut before other spring products like the iPhone 16e and iPad Air. However, with the iPhone 16e having been released, the MacBook Air is still notably absent.
That situation is expected to change shortly. Gurman states that the new M4 laptop is set to launch in March, and Apple is already equipping its marketing, sales, and retail staff in preparation. He mentions that existing M2 and M3 models are currently experiencing low stock in stores.
Apart from the M4 chip itself, we have limited insights regarding the M4 MacBook Air. Potential upgrades could include Thunderbolt 4 (instead of USB 4/Thunderbolt 3), a Center Stage camera, and possibly a nano-texture display option. These enhancements have already been seen in other M4-equipped Macs.
