Apple to Introduce Three New Home Products Next Year: Here’s What to Expect

As the year draws to a close, Apple is preparing for a significant expansion into Home products in 2025. Here are three Home devices anticipated to be launched in the upcoming year.

Introducing the New ‘HomePad’ Device

Arguably the most thrilling new product on Apple’s agenda for 2025 is the yet-to-be-named ‘HomePad’ device.

According to Mark Gurman:

Apple is set to introduce a brand-new category of products: a wall-mounted display that manages appliances, facilitates videoconferencing, and utilizes AI to navigate applications. This device features approximately a 6-inch screen, resembling a square iPad, about the size of two stacked iPhones, with a robust edge surrounding the display. It includes a front-facing camera, a rechargeable battery, and built-in speakers.

Key functionalities of the HomePad are anticipated to include:

  • Enhanced Apple Intelligence with an updated Siri
  • Widgets similar to StandBy, controls for the Home app, and more
  • Slideshow capabilities from the Photos app
  • Integrated security camera and video/audio intercom plus FaceTime
  • Support for Apple apps such as Safari, Music, and Notes

As I have mentioned before, this sounds like precisely the type of smart home device I would find incredibly useful.

According to Gurman, the HomePad is expected by March, while Ming-Chi Kuo believes it may arrive later in the year. Regardless, 2025 is projected to be the launch year for this innovative category of Home devices from Apple.

Introducing the New Apple TV 4K

It has been a couple of years since the latest Apple TV 4K was introduced, and Apple is gearing up to release a new iteration in 2025.

Information regarding the updated Apple TV 4K is limited, but we anticipate at least the following upgrades:

  • Support for Apple Intelligence
  • An A18 or A17 Pro chip for enhanced AI capabilities
  • A new in-house Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip

Apple is also expected to support emerging display technologies for televisions. Aside from those enhancements, the new Apple TV 4K will likely maintain a similar design and operating system as its predecessor.

HomePod mini 2 Launch

While the larger HomePod has entered its second generation, the HomePod mini remains the initial version released in 2020.

In 2025, we will finally see the launch of the HomePod mini 2.

Aside from the release timeframe and the integration of Apple’s new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, we have no further details about the upcoming HomePod mini.

There’s a possibility that Apple will enhance the HomePod mini 2 with full Apple Intelligence support. I sincerely hope this happens.

Alternatively, Apple might choose to have the HomePod mini 2 work more closely with your iPhone or other devices like the HomePad. Essentially, it would likely remain an affordable smart speaker but may leverage the capabilities of nearby devices. Stay tuned for more updates regarding the HomePod mini 2 in the upcoming months.

Apple’s Home Product Overview

Apple’s major new commitment to the smart home sector comes after years of treating Home products as a side project. I am optimistic that the company has a strong strategy in place for its Home offerings—there is a lot of promise ahead.

Should Apple successfully cultivate a robust Home ecosystem, this may pave the way for more innovative products in the future, potentially even a revival of AirPort.
