Apple to Unveil Three New Home Products This Year: Here’s What to Expect

As we enter the new year, Apple is gearing up for a major initiative in Home products for 2025. Here’s a look at three home devices anticipated to launch in the upcoming year.

Exciting New ‘HomePad’ Device

Concept for HomePod with display

One of the most thrilling upcoming products is Apple’s unreleased ‘HomePad’ device.

According to Mark Gurman’s report:

Apple…is approaching the launch of a new product category: a wall-mounted display designed to control devices, facilitate video calls, and utilize AI to navigate applications. The device features a 6-inch screen resembling a square iPad—approximately the size of two iPhones placed side by side—surrounded by a thick bezel. Additionally, it includes a front camera, a rechargeable built-in battery, and internal speakers.

Key features expected for the HomePad include:

  • Enhanced Apple Intelligence with an improved Siri
  • Widgets similar to StandBy mode, Home app controls, and additional features
  • Slideshow capabilities via the Photos app
  • Integrated security camera and video/audio intercom with FaceTime
  • Compatibility with Apple apps, including Safari, Music, and Notes

This new device aligns perfectly with my vision for innovative home technology.

Initially anticipated for release in March, Gurman has recently hinted that the HomePad might instead debut in April in conjunction with iOS 18.4. Regardless, it’s expected to launch early this year and introduce a new category of home devices for Apple.

Updated Apple TV 4K

tvOS 18.2 Release Candidate

After a few years since the last Apple TV 4K was launched, Apple is set to unveil a new version this year.

While concrete details about the updated Apple TV 4K are limited, we can anticipate:

  • Integration of Apple Intelligence
  • An A18 or A17 Pro chip to enhance AI capabilities
  • A new in-house Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip

There is a strong possibility that Apple will incorporate support for cutting-edge TV display technologies. Nevertheless, the new Apple TV 4K will likely retain the same overall design and operating system as current models.

The revamped Apple TV 4K is projected to be released towards the end of the year.

HomePod mini 2

HomePod mini

While the larger HomePod is already in its second generation, the HomePod mini is still utilizing its original model from 2020.

However, this year marks the anticipated launch of the HomePod mini 2.

Apart from the expected release timeline and the introduction of Apple’s new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, no additional information is available about the upcoming HomePod mini.

There’s a chance that Apple may enhance the device with full Apple Intelligence functionality, which would be fantastic.

Alternatively, Apple might opt for a different direction, focusing on integrating the HomePod mini 2 more seamlessly with your iPhone or other devices such as the HomePad. This means that it would continue to serve as an economical smart speaker while leveraging the intelligence of nearby devices. Further details on the HomePod mini 2 are likely to surface in the coming months.

Similar to the Apple TV 4K, the HomePod mini 2 is expected to launch in late 2025.

Overview of Apple’s Home Products

Apple’s significant push into the smart home sector comes after years of treating its Home products as secondary. I am optimistic that the company has a strong new strategy for its Home offerings, as there’s immense potential in this area.

If Apple can establish a robust Home ecosystem, it may pave the way for even more innovative products in the future, perhaps even a revival of AirPort.
